The Creative Vision

I have been creating art since my hands were able to hold a pencil. As a child I escaped to my inner worlds through drawing.I started painting seriously as a high school student and it became one of my first loves. My art classes as a student were places where I felt I could truly be myself, and a place to develop a new language to express myself. I would later take this passion for art into performance art, using my whole body to express emotions. I was lucky enough to tour Europe for three months performing in clubs, forests, and public parks. What holds my heart currently is ceramics. My journey in ceramics began with simply wanting to try something new, and fascination for the tactile nature of clay. To me, making art and homewares out of clay feels like a deeply human action. It connects us to humans that were using the same ideas to create thousands of years ago. Some of the oldest objects we hold from the past were made by potters and ceramicists.  My work is a celebration of organic forms and the human connection gained through making art that is used in day to day moments. I take all of this and pour it into teaching children how to find their creative outlet. All the creators that came before, all the impact art has had on my own life, and the opportunity to teach the next generation of creators is what fuels my fire.
